Over the last three days it’s been a bit of a roller coaster of needs must, but… So to get the fence in to place we had to remove our hedge, but the hedge was a nice place to hide behind and sit where no one could see you also it was shade when the sun was out (not a problem at the moment) It was difficult but Aran needs the space to run during the day when we are at home and we want to be able to use the space again so the hedge had to come out.

The weather was better than we expected so the clearing wasn’t as wet as we expected and the fence went in without fuss. Our only slow down was the amount of space the clearing took up. So we needed to chop and bag it up which took a morning where we would have preferred to leave it till the end when the fence was up and Aran was out with us, but it had to be done.
I think with what we have done this week we have made more work for ourselves and we will want to get out and carry on clearing areas and getting them planted and at least looking tidy.

Fencing for a dog.

White German ShepherdSo during the past year we have had Aran a white German shepherd growing up rapidly in our house, slowly taking over our lives as he sheds his hair everywhere and generally makes a mess. His latest trick has been to get into the next doors garden. So we have to take him out on a lead which isn’t the best and wait for our new fence, which has now been delivered, to be put up. The fence is a tall metal mesh and pole job that is more often seen at building sites but was recommended for keeping in dogs. We have also purchased some wooden posts to postcrete in to keep the fence up. This we are hoping will be up in the next few days then I shall post some photos, though the weather is forecast as being wet but I have not booked in any jobs so this must get done what ever the weather!

Things Change…

Lots of things have changed since I last posted some of which I shall share over the next few weeks.

One of the biggest changes is that I’m a self employed electrician now rather than an illustrator so a lot less computer time. I have a web site skoyles.co.uk and a face book page which could do with a few more likes!

Why the change well after having been a technical illustrator for the best part of twenty years I decided a career change was needed and with a colleague enrolled on an electrical course. This was a fun and at times challenging time where I learnt many things to give me the knowledge required to go out and become an electrician.

Since getting my qualifications and joining the NICEIC I have had the good fortune to have had lots of lovely clients giving me the chance to do a wide range of jobs from changing lights and switches to rewiring a chapel during its transformation into a photographic studio.

My change in career has been a very rewarding experience and provided me with a job that I look forward to each day with its challenges in providing the best solutions for my clients installations.

Drawing faces.

Found this today thought I’d post it so I could find it again its a site called sketchcast have a look and see what you think!

Life goes by…

I thought I’d better add something here as it’s quite a while since I wrote anything. May be its the weather but I seam to be on the tired side at the moment. I guess it is everything catching up with me, moving offices at work, holiday, reclaiming some of our garden and all the other day to day stuff. I think it is now time to slow down a bit and get back into some sort of routine. So you can expect a few more posts than there has been recently.

Fruitful

Our garden is in full fruit at the moment so the wife is busy making jam and chutney before it gets attacked and ruined. It also makes it last all winter! More pictures on flickr.

Holiday time…

So not so much to say recently due to a lot of other things keeping me away from these pages. Time is precious and with work moving the summer coming and going as and when it pleases going away and any other reasons I can come up with I haven’t made time for this. Facebook has also eaten into my time and many of my work colleagues time all very interesting but not sure where it is going. Things will change again as we settle into our new office and the kids go back to school then the routine will no doubt return and there will be more posts here.
